Citing irreconcilable differences, Dennis Quaid, 46, filed for divorce from Meg Ryan, 38, in L.A. superior court on July 11. The superstar couple, who have been married for nine years, have one child, 8-year-old Jack....

English actress Patsy Kensit (Lethal Weapon 2), 32, announced on July 7 in London that she has separated from her husband, Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, 27. The pair reportedly separated once before—17 months after their April 1997 marriage. The couple's son Lennon, named after Gallagher's Beatles hero, was born last September.

Births
Fall Guy gal Heather Thomas delivered her first baby, 8-lb. 12-oz. daughter India Rose, on June 19. The actress, who costarred on the popular TV series with Lee Majors from 1981 to '86 and has since worked as a screenwriter, is married to Skip Brittenham, 58, an entertainment attorney. Thomas is stepmother to his two daughters, ages 18 and 21.

Deaths

Indianapolis Colts running back Fred Lane died on July 6, when he was shot by his wife, Deidra, during a marital dispute at their home in Charlotte, N.C. He was 24....

Musician Michael Koda, who formed the rock group Brownsville Station and wrote its 1973 hit "Smokin' in the Boys' Room," died of complications from kidney dialysis on July 1 in Chelsea, Mich. He was 51.

Wed
Country crooner Gary Chapman, 42, who split from singer Amy Grant in 1999 after 16½ years, married Jennifer Pittman, 31, a former animal trainer, at Chapman's farm in Williamson County, Tenn., on July 1. His dog Simon acted as ring bearer.

Legal Matters
On July 10 a Beverly Hills superior court judge ordered Jean-Claude Van Damme, 39, to attend a 90-day anti-drunk-driving class and pay a $1,200 fine after the actor pleaded no contest to a 1999 DUI-related misdemeanor. The actor, dubbed the "Muscles from Brussels," also received three years probation and had his driver's license restricted for 90 days.

In Trouble
On July 5 in London, police arrested Euan Blair, the 16-year-old son of British Prime Minister Tony Blair, 47, for public drunkenness after the youngster threw up and passed out in that city's famed Leicester Square. Euan gave a false name at the station house before authorities discovered his real identity.

Expecting
Jane Leeves, 39, who plays Daphne on NBC's Frasier, and her husband of 3½ years, Marshall Coben, a Paramount television executive, are expecting their first child in early January.

Recovering
In Paris on July 10, French actor Gérard Depardieu (Green Card, Cyrano de Bergerac), 51, reportedly underwent successful coronary bypass surgery. A full recovery is expected.

Suing
On July 10 David Orgell jewelers filed a lawsuit against Michael Jackson, 41, saying the singer walked off with a $1.45 million watch late last year without paying. The Beverly Hills jewelers allege that when Jackson returned the watch in April, it was too scratched to be resold. A spokesman for Jackson called the lawsuit "meritless."
