>Chicken Run The yolks just keep coming in this delightful comedy about plucky fowl trying to escape from an egg farm. This family film is by the clay-animation geniuses behind the Oscar-winning Wallace & Gromit. (G)

Chuck & Buck As an alternative to dumb, big-budget summer films, try this creepy, oddly affecting drama about a lollipop-sucking misfit (Mike White, the movie's writer) who stalks his best friend (Chris Weitz) from childhood. (R)

Disney's the Kid When he meets himself as a 7-year-old boy, image consultant Bruce Willis realizes that it is never too late to live up to your childhood dreams. The premise may be strained, but this lively, sentimental comedy will score with both children and adults. (PG)

The Perfect Storm Imperfect movie. Freakishly bad weather system menaces fishing-boat skipper George Clooney and crew far out in the North Atlantic. Great waves, but weak characters and story. (PG-13)

Scary Movie Scream spoof is bigger on dirty jokes than scares. (R)

X-Men Good and evil mutants battle over mankind's gene pool in a gloomy, overblown sci-fi fantasy based on a comic-book series. With each superhero showing off a special power, it feels like a vaudeville show of the gods. (PG-13)
