If you found it tough to watch Liliana Komorowska's head smash hard against a mirror in Wesley Snipes's hit The Art of War, imagine how director Christian Duguay felt. After all, the actress is his wife. On the other side of the mirror, a hammer was poised to hit the glass at 150 miles per hour. Duguay insisted on managing the difficult shot himself. "I had the Steadi-cam on one side, and I was holding my wife on the other side and choreographed the hammer and her head to meet at the same time," he says.

You may not sing like Sinéad O'Connor, but if you're lucky, you can look a little like her. When the controversial songbird appeared on the syndicated talk show Queen Latifah, one of her fans, Lois Langevin-Pinon of San Francisco, said she wanted O'Connor's hairstyle. So, electric clippers in hand, Sinéad went to work. Watching Lois's locks fall to the floor, Queen Latifah announced she wanted a haircut too. As the audience chanted, "Take it off! Take it off!" O'Connor approached Latifah with the clippers, but the host jokingly called for security. The episode airs Sept. 13.

Fans of Cristian de la Fuente shouldn't fret that the hot Chilean actor will not be on the first four episodes of CBS's Family Law. He's shooting Champs, a drama about auto racing starring Sylvester Stallone, in Toronto. In the film, de la Fuente is married to Stallone's ex-wife (Gina Gershon), who sees him as a younger, better version of her first husband.

MTV, which has reportedly been trying to lure Madonna to sing during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7, might want to throw in a couple of gift baskets as inducements. This year's performers and presenters, including the Rock, Janet Jackson, 'N Sync and Britney Spears, will get goodie bags worth $2,500. Inside they'll find one set of Motorola two-way pagers, an Eddie Bauer solar-powered radio, a Seiko kinetic relay watch, Bose headphones and a night at the Regent Las Vegas/Aquae Sulis Spa (sorry, just one spa treatment gift included), among other pricey items.

Diners at Rusty's Surf Ranch on the Santa Monica Pier were recently treated to a jog down memory lane. Former singer and teen idol Shaun Cassidy, who's now a producer, did an impromptu rendition of Prince's "Little Red Corvette" with the Jenerators. The band is led by Bill Mumy (Will Robinson of TV's Lost in Space) and includes David Jolliffe, the actor who played Bernie on Room 222. Also in the audience: Billy Gray, Bud on Father Knows Best.
