Picks and Pans Review: The Villa

The elderly owners of the Giambelli-MacMillan winery have decided it is time to choose between their two most promising heirs. But first the pair must trade jobs. Sophia Giambelli, ace publicist and bona fide beauty, must learn the vintner's trade; Tyler MacMillan, the quiet, rugged winemaker, must soak up the art of the spin. At stake: one of the world's largest wineries.

Sophia and Tyler grate on each other's nerves, natch, but in no time they're pressing sheets as well as grapes. Fans of romance writer Roberts will feel right at home in this Villa, which comes furnished with an abundance of murders, massages, embezzlement, power shopping and arson. (Putnam, $25.95)

Bottom Line: Vintage Roberts
