Bridget Jones's Diary Renée Zellweger is a hoot in this swell romantic comedy. (R)

Memento The plot runs backward in this nifty thriller about a man dealing with memory loss. (R)

Moulin Rouge Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor star in a musical set in Paris in 1899 but featuring recent pop and rock tunes. Director Baz Luhrmann cuts so frenetically between shots and scenes that he never lets his story or characters catch their breath. They, and we, end up exhausted. (PG-13)

Pearl Harbor Bombs away! Boring and bloated romantic drama's an infamy of its own. (PG-13)
