Offending Secrets

How's this for fatherly advice? Upon hearing that his daughter, model Molly Sims, would be in the sixth annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Manhattan's Bryant Park on Nov. 13, "my dad was like, 'Don't walk out there naked!' " Sims said. "So thats the stipulation: My butt had to be covered."

For other viewers her backside wasn't covered enough. The events first-ever broadcast (it finished last in its 9 p.m. , Nov. 15, time slot on ABC) resulted in hundreds of irate calls to the FCC, which is charged with investigating whether TV images—such as that of model Tyra Banks catwalking in a thong and a strapless bra—violate federal decency regulations.

As for the crowd on hand, including Regis Philbin and host Rupert Everett, they were all smiles. The next day, though, even Philbin was having second thoughts. He told his Live with Regis and Kelly audience, "I thought it was a little early for that kind of thing."
