The Nashville music business is run by sharks in Stetsons, and the feeding frenzy swirls around a song called "Pothole in My Heart," stolen from a struggling songwriter to make a star out of singer Eddie Long. Eddie's first CD is a hit thanks to that and another song he wrote about the tragic death of his wife. Music critic Jimmy Rogers, though, is writing a book suggesting Eddie murdered his missus, and the unknown songwriter wants revenge and royalties. Each lively, loopy turn leads to another, and everything converges in a climactic chord. This one is funnier than Garth Brooks singing the best of Nine Inch Nails. Get ready to hee-haw. (Morrow, $24)

Bottom Line: Finger-pickin' good
