On April 1 in Macomb County, Mich., Eminem, 29, agreed to pay $100,000 to construction worker John Guerra, 28, who alleged the rapper threatened him with a handgun outside a Warren, Mich., bar in June 2000. Guerra said that Eminem's then wife, Kim Mathers, kissed him right before the singer hit him in the head with a gun. Eminem is currently serving two years probation on criminal weapons charges that resulted from the incident. Guerra's attorneys said the settlement amount was "less than we wanted."

The family of rapper Notorious B.I.G. (born Christopher Wallace), who was shot to death in 1997, filed a wrongful death suit against the city of L.A. on April 9. The Wallace family claims the L.A. police knew that "an atmosphere of violence" existed and should have done more to protect the rapper, who was 24 when he was gunned down. No one has been arrested for the slaying.
