Simon Baker: Actor

There's a fine line between low-maintenance and no-maintenance, and Simon Baker treads it gleefully. "I don't use deodorant," he says. "If you drink enough water, you shouldn't have to. I think I smell pretty good without it." The Australian star of CBS's drama series The Guardian has no use for other toiletries, either: "I don't like fancy fiddly girlie stuff." And he rarely enlists the services of a barber. "I cut my own hair most of the time," he says. "You just do it all by feel." Friends testify to his earthiness. Says Aussie actress Naomi Watts: "Simon is not a groomer. He rolls out of bed and he's ready to go." Echoes Nicole Kidman, who last year opened her L.A. home to Baker while his was being painted: "What makes Simon so inherently cool is that he just doesn't care. I've lived with the guy, so I know." A competitive water-polo player and surfer as a teen in Sydney, the 5'10" Baker, 32, rides the waves in Malibu, where he lives with his wife, actress Rebecca Rigg, 34, and their kids Stella, 8, Claude, 3, and Harry, 7 months. That along with "loads of fish and rice and salad" keeps him in shape. But once The Guardian wraps for the season, "I let myself go completely. I don't cut my hair," says Baker. "I turn into a woolly mammoth."
