Last year she won a Grammy for best Latin pop album. But since the release in November of her quintuple-platinum CD Laundry Service (with its catchy single "Whenever, Wherever"), the 25-year-old Colombian has become a worldwide phenomenon. And, thanks to her newly demanding schedule, a concealer addict. "It helps you when you haven't had enough sleep," she says. Otherwise, "I don't have much time for personal care." Nor, truth be told, does she have the inclination. Shakira (Arabic for "woman full of grace"—her dad is Lebanese) Mebarak Ripoll has no interest in stationary bikes or StairMasters. "I'm too lazy to use them," she confesses. And though she tries to keep away from starches and has replaced whole milk with skim, "I really enjoy eating. If it could be a hobby, it would be mine." Instead it's the music biz that has kept her occupied since she recorded her first album in Colombia at 13. Today the 5-ft. Shakira dates lawyer Antonio de la Rua, 28, son of the former Argentinian president, and performs around the world. "When we went to the Grammys last year," says her mother, Nydia, "I remember seeing everyone turn their head as Shakira walked by, and they were asking, 'Who is that girl?' " Now they know.
