There's the Britney Spears we know onstage-gyrating, belly-baring, sinfully sexy. Then there's "Brit-Brit" as her mom calls her, who, after breaking up with 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake in March, sought the comforts of home with her family in Kentwood, La. For a week, the 20-year-old zoomed around the 8-acre property on a four-wheeler, indulged in some favorite foods—chicken and dumplings and Baskin-Robbins' Pralines 'n Cream—and took in. a lot of southern sun on the back porch. She also got a rare 10 hours of sleep each night. "When she doesn't rest enough, she breaks out," says mom Lynne, 47. "Here she sleeps double-time." To prepare for a world tour that begins later this month, the 5'4" star, who recently made her film debut in the teen drama Crossroads, is now dancing her cares away in eight-hour rehearsals. "She loses herself in dance," says her choreographer Wade Robson. "Everything fades away and nothing else matters. It's strong and sexy, and you don't want to take your eyes off her."
