German model Claudia Schiffer, 31, and her boyfriend of 16 months, British film producer Matthew Vaughn (Snatch), also 31, will wed at an undisclosed location in England on May 25. It will be the first marriage for both.
In Memphis, Kerrie Mc-Carver Lewis, 39, served divorce papers to Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jerry Lee Lewis, 66, on April 22, two days shy of their 18th wedding anniversary. (She had originally filed in 1998.) The couple called the split amicable, and Kerrie will continue to run their company, JKL Enterprises. This was the rocker's sixth marriage.
A heart infection caused renowned diet doctor Robert Atkins, 71, to suffer cardiac arrest on April 18 in his Manhattan home. The weight-loss guru, who was revived by an associate and spent six nights in a local hospital, had said his famous high-protein, low-carb diet was in no way related to his illness.

O.J. Simpson, 54, filed a petition on April 25 in L.A., seeking to overturn the $33.5 million civil judgment against him for the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. Simpson claims the amount is "cruel and unusual punishment" by a "jury inflamed by emotion." In 1995 Simpson was cleared of all criminal charges.
In Tampa on April 29, former baseball slugger Darryl Strawberry, 40, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for probation violation dating from a 1999 conviction on drug and solicitation of prostitute charges. In March Strawberry was kicked out of a drug treatment center in Ocala, Fla., for breaking house rules. The incident was his sixth probation violation.
A federal appeals court in L.A. ruled on April 29 that Frasier star Kelsey Grammer, 47, must pay more than $2 million in unpaid commissions to The Artists Agency, which represented him in the '80s and '90s. Grammer, who left the talent group in 1996, claimed that a contract he had signed the year before was not valid.
On April 24 Michael McDermott,43, the software engineer who gunned down seven coworkers in Wakefield, Mass., in 2000 (PEOPLE, Jan. 8, 2001), was convicted of seven counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole. The Cambridge, Mass., jury rejected McDermott's insanity defense that he thought he was shooting Nazis in Adolf Hitler's bunker....
Actor Robert Blake, 68, who is being held without bail in an L.A. jail for the murder of his wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, posted $1 million bail for his bodyguard Earle Caldwell on April 26. Caldwell is charged with conspiracy in the murder. In other Blake news, Bakley's four children filed a wrongful death suit against the actor and Caldwell on April 29 in L.A....
Former Sotheby's CEO Diana Brooks, 51, was sentenced to six months of home confinement and fined $350,000 on April 29 in Manhattan for her role in a price-fixing scam that rocked the art world (PEOPLE, Oct. 23, 2000). To avoid jail time, Brooks agreed to testify against her ex-boss, former Sotheby's chairman Alfred Taubman, who was sentenced to a year in prison.
