Frailty Seriously creepy. Bill Paxton, who also directed this psychological thriller, will make your skin crawl as a religious zealot who goes around chopping up folks he believes are really demons. (R)

Hollywood Ending Woody Allen falters with this weak Hollywood satire that features tired jokes about pea-brained starlets, megalomaniac moguls and outsize egos. Téa Leoni is the film's major bright spot. (PG-13)

Janice Beard Eileen Walsh, an appealing newcomer, plays a temporary office worker with a robust fantasy life in an amusing comic trifle about corporate espionage. Notting Hill's Rhys Ifans costars. (Not rated)

Murder by Numbers Sandra Bullock stars in a better-than-average thriller about a flinty homicide detective. (R)

Spider-Man A lot of fun, though we like Spidey (Tobey Maguire) better when he's out of tights than in 'em. (PG-13)
