Van Morrison is experimenting with funktronica and has been spotted girlfriend-shopping with Justin Timberlake. Just kidding. Having sounded like a 60-year-old soul sphinx since he was about 23, Morrison, 57, has cheated time with a reverse Botox effect. The lines were always carved into his voice; now he has earned them. With a sax here, a harmonica there and that woeful, soulful voice, this disc could have been recorded yesterday or in 1968. Van Morrison fans will love it; as for the other 10 percent of the populace, their Kid Rock discs are punishment enough.
Bottom Line: No rust on this Van
