Lovely & Amazing is that rare film that you wish would just keep going, so content are you to spend time with its central characters. They are an odd quartet: a mother (Blethyn), her emotionally adrift adult daughters (Mortimer and Keener) and an 8-year-old African-American girl she has adopted. The cast is exceptional, especially an abrasive Keener, and talented writer-director Nicole Holofcener (Walking and Talking) understands that the push-pull of family never ends. (R)

Bottom Line: Lives up to its title
