St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile, 33, was found dead in a Chicago hotel room on June 22, hours before a scheduled game against the Cubs. According to a preliminary autopsy, the 12-year major league veteran, renowned for his curveball, probably died of hardening of the arteries....
The Cardinals also suffered a major loss when beloved Hall of Fame broadcaster Jack Buck, 77, who had been announcing the team's games since 1954, died of cancer in St. Louis on June 18....
TV producer William P.D'Angelo, 70, who created a slew of hit series in the '70s and '80s including Love, American Style and Alice, died of pancreatic cancer on June 8 in L.A....
Cartoonist John Dempsey, 83, whose colorful drawings lampooning American life appeared in almost every issue of Playboy for nearly 50 years, died of complications from a stroke on May 18 in San Diego.

Wheel of Fortune's Vanna White, 45, filed for divorce from her husband of more than 10 years, restaurateur George Santopietro, 56, on May 15 in L.A. The couple, who announced their separation in December, have two children, Nicholas, 7, and Giovanna, 5.
Arrested
The FBI arrested celebrity hairstylist John Frieda, 50, on June 18 in San Diego for allegedly shoving a crew member during a flight from New York City. Frieda, who faces a felony charge of interfering with a flight crew, is due in court on July 11....
In another air-rage case, Canadian officials arrested actress Rebecca Broussard, 39, for being abusive and disruptive after a Virgin Atlantic flight crew refused to serve her any more champagne. The former girlfriend of Jack Nicholson (and the mother of two of his children) was apparently drinking before she boarded the L.A. to London flight, which made an emergency landing in Winnipeg. A lawyer for Broussard said her client "is presumed innocent."
Update
In June John Wayne Bobbitt, 35, was jailed in Las Vegas for violating terms of his house arrest imposed in May following charges he assaulted Joanna Ferrell, 31, his wife of less than two months (PEOPLE, June 3,2002). Bobbitt, whose first wife, Lorena, cut off his penis in 1993, was on probation for pleading guilty to attempted grand larceny in 1999.
