Picks and Pans Review: Now Playing

Lilo & Stitch Our current favorite film for small fry offers a spunky leading girl (Lilo), an amusingly nasty sidekick (Stitch), attitude, hand-drawn animation and Elvis on the soundtrack. What's not to like? (PG)

Minority Report In a provocative, accomplished sci-fi thriller, it's 2054, and top cop Tom Cruise ends up on the run himself. Loses steam near the end, but definitely way cool and one of this summer's best. Steven Spielberg directed. (PG-13)

The Powerpuff Girls Movie

Better on TV. Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup—the trio of pint-size superheroines collectively known as the Powerpuff Girls—lose much of their charm in their move to the big screen, where they battle evil primates for what seems like a very, very long time. (PG)
