On the Fly
To give Austin Powers in Goldmember more mojo, costume designer Deena Appel turned to the platform boots and large hoop earrings of the '70s blaxploitation films. "I thought I was going to be bringing the look back," Appel says. "Next thing I know, everyone is wearing them!" Will Smith and Angela Bassett are just two of the stars currently sporting superfly styles—"Peacock clothes, colorful, wild," says designer Ron Finley, who has made funk fashions for Shaquille O'Neal. "They proved who was the coolest on the block." Still, there have been changes: Slits are higher, hemlines shorter and the only statement an Afro makes now, says L.A. hairdresser Eric Scot, who specializes in the style, is that "you're trying to find something cool and new to do with your hair."

Smith reprises the all-leather look of Shaft's Richard Roundtree.

FUROCIOUS
At a November fashion show, Blige adopted the glam gangsta look of Cleopatra Jones's Tamara Dobson.

HAIR APPARENT
In Foxy Brown, Grier's Afro "was perfectly round," says Eric Scot. "Today the look is more natural."

FINELY FEATHERED
To pull off Grier's Foxy Brown look—then and now—says Ron Finley, requires "a desire to stand out."

When Kim Cattrall's character Samantha on Sex and the City received a mending-fences friendship ring from her beau, it was truly an apology a girl could retire on—a 25-carat canary-yellow Harry Winston diamond surrounded by two carats' worth of white diamonds. Cattrall herself picked out the bauble, worth nearly $1 million. And if the rock looks familiar, it should: It's the very same supersize sparkler Whoopi Goldberg wore when she hosted the Oscars last March....

Singer Jessica Simpson will get hitched to 98° warbler Nick Lachey in early October, an event the couple plan to pull off in high style. I hear Simpson has Vera Wang whipping up her floor-length, cream-colored wedding gown, while Lachey is talking to Hugo Boss about a classic nuptial look of traditional black tux worn with a cream-colored shirt and matching tie. His groomsmen will sport a similar ensemble with black ties....

Ozzy Osbourne may not be Mr. Clean-cut, but he likes to smell good. Television's most popular dad recently walked into Fred Segal's trendy Apothia beauty boutique and bought the entire stock—46 bottles at $120 each—of Czech & Speake No. 88 men's cologne, all for himself. Based on an Elizabethan-era recipe, the cologne is made of natural oils of sandalwood and bergamot. Osbourne says he loves it because "it smells like tobacco."...

How joined at the hip are Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt? Well, they both use Kinerase, a prescription face cream marketed as a major wrinkle fighter. And they don't like to run low, ordering the potion—which costs $140 for a 3.8 ounce bottle—by the case of 12.

presto change-o
Having worn her hair long for six years, "I needed a change," says MTV House of Style host Molly Sims. So she popped into New York City's Warren-Tricomi salon for a layered shag. "I was so scared, I had to have a glass of wine!" she says. But Sims loves the "sexy" style—especially in the morning. "When I wake up," she says, "my head feels so light."

Tell us about your tattoos.

Signs' Joaquin Phoenix "I have this circle on my arm. I got it to represent nothing. I hate tattoos that are, like, some Gaelic symbol for wisdom or something."

Alias' Michael Vartan "I have my ex-fiancée's initials on my arm. I'm looking for the best laser surgeon in town."

Singer Tweet (who has a mike on her arm, a guitar on her belly and drums on her back) "I hope they don't sag as I get older."

Spy Kids 2's Carla Gugino "I have a butterfly on my ankle. It's a sign of renewal."

Alicia Silverstone shone in a sequined chiffon dress at the Manhattan premiere of Signs. The gauzy asymmetrical hemline "adds whimsy and mystery," declares Anne Klein designer Charles Nolan, a favorite of the actress's. "You're exposed and covered up at the same time."

Faded Glory
He may be worth a reported $35 million, but polo-playing Prince Harry doesn't plan on replacing his tired-looking, two-year-old Highgrove team jersey. "He believes it's his lucky shirt," says a polo insider. Given that he has been outscoring brother William (right), who has new team togs, Harry could be on to something. But he isn't the only Windsor into game-related rituals: Before matches, Harry's superstitious dad, Charles, always puts on his left boot before his right.

Dog Days of Summer
At the July 27 Super Saturday 5 fund-raiser to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, actresses Izabella Miko and Ali Larter and model Heidi Klum showed off their favorite four-legged accessory. Organizers of the event, which raised more than $1 million, didn't object. "Everyone was welcome," says publicist Lauren Kucerak, "including pets." Among the Very important Puppies: Klum's Jack Russell terrier. "Sheila travels with me everywhere," she says.
