R&B singer Toni Braxton, 36, and her husband, musician Keri Lewis, 31, are anticipating the birth of their second child early next year. The couple's son Denim Cole will turn 1 in December.

In front of 100 guests, including his Matrix costar Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, 41, wed actress Gina Torres (Firefly), 33, at The Cloisters museum in Manhattan on Sept. 22. It is the second marriage for Fishburne, the first for Torres.

Actor Nick Nolte, 61, voluntarily checked into a psychiatric hospital in New Canaan, Conn., on Sept. 14, four days after he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in Malibu (PEOPLE, Sept. 30, 2002). "He will be there as long as he feels is necessary," said a spokesman for Nolte....

Miles Dabord, 35, the brother of former NBA star Bison Dele, 33, who in July disappeared with two companions from his 55-foot boat near Tahiti (PEOPLE, Sept. 30, 2002), was found in a coma in Tijuana, Mexico, on Sept. 21. The cause has not been determined, but he is in critical condition. An FBI spokesman said that Dabord, who had been traveling with the group, was "the key to unraveling the mystery. But we may never get the chance to talk with him."

Deaths

Olympic gold-medal-winning sprinter Bob Hayes, 59, who tied the world record for the 100 meters at the 1964 Tokyo Games before becoming a stand-out receiver with the Dallas Cowboys, died of undisclosed causes on Sept. 18 in Jacksonville, Fla....

Dunkin' Donuts founder William Rosenberg, 86, who in 1948 opened his first coffee-and-pastry shop in Quincy, Mass., died of bladder cancer on Sept. 20 in Mashpee, Mass....

Puerto Rican actor Tony Martinez, 82, best known for playing farm-hand Pepino Garcia on TV's The Real McCoys from 1957-'63, died of undisclosed causes on Sept. 23 in Las Vegas. Martinez later portrayed Sancho Panza in Man of La Mancha, Broadway's Tony Award-winning musical of the late 1960s.

Legal Matters
On Sept. 10, a Winston-Salem, N.C., judge ordered Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, 32, to pay $2.45 million to Cedrick Bobby Lemon, 32, who claimed that he was beaten by bodyguards the rapper had hired to protect R&B singer Mary J. Blige at a 1995 concert. Lemon alleges he was punched and kicked by the guards backstage as they tried to clear the way for Blige to leave. The judge ordered the payment because Combs didn't respond to the allegations within the 30-day time limit. A rep for Combs could not be reached for comment.

Trouble
Reigning Miss Universe Oxana Fedorova, 23, was fired from her post on Sept. 23 for "not fulfilling her duties," which include extensive world travel, according to pageant officials. Fedorova, who as Russia's representative to the pageant was crowned in May, will be replaced by first runner-up Justine Pasek of Panama. This is the first time in the pageant's 52-year history that a Miss Universe has been stripped of her title.
