Picks and Pans Review: Spotlight On...Susan Sarandon

If Susan Sarandon's recent film trifecta—the Oscar-winning actress stars in Igby Goes Down, Moonlight Mile and The Banger Sisters—didn't impress her three kids, getting a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame this summer did. "They said, 'Why didn't you tell us it was a big deal?'" she says. "I don't think they have any perspective. For years, they thought I worked in a trailer."

Sarandon's oldest, Eva, 17 (Dad is Italian director Franco Amurri), got a reality check when she costarred with Mom in Sisters. Sarandon, 56, is proud to be a role model for Eva in more ways than one. "She takes for granted not having to choose between career and family," says Sarandon, who lives in Manhattan with Eva, her longtime beau, Tim Robbins, 44, and their sons Jack, 13, and Miles, 10. "I secretly can't wait for it to dawn on her how difficult it has been [for me] to do both, just so she'll appreciate me more." Natasha Stoynoff
