>James Van Der Beek doesn't want to hear about wholesome. After all, there's a reason the Dawson's Creek star decided to play a pot-smoking, sex-crazed college student in the gritty drama The Rules of Attraction. But ask the fresh-faced star about highlights of the Attraction shoot, and his inner Dawson peeks out: Recalling a winter scene that called for manmade snow, he says gleefully, "We had snowball fights!"

Van Der Beek says he'll be ready to leave the kid stuff behind when Creek ends. "I've gotten everything I ever wanted out of it," says the 25-year-old actor, who helped coach a high school baseball team in Wilmington, N.C., where the show tapes. "It's been my life for so many years. I'm going to need to decompress."

Indeed, Van Der Beek is looking forward to being in L.A., where his fiancée, Heather McComb (Party of Five), 25, is planning their impending nuptials. "We haven't had much time together. I've racked up 330,000 frequent-flyer miles," says Van Der Beek. "I singlehandedly saved US Air from bankruptcy."
