PBS's new, eight-hour adaptation of John Galsworthy's multilayered family tale proved as rewarding as the fondly remembered TV version from the late '60s. Damian Lewis was superb as Soames, the emotionally repressed solicitor unable to buy the love of his maddeningly cool wife.
