Expecting

Singer Marc Anthony, 34, and his wife, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, 28, are expecting their second child in September. The couple, who wed in May 2000 and renewed their vows last December after a brief split, have a 2-year-old son, Cristian. Anthony has a daughter, Arianna, 8, from another relationship....

Third Watch's Eddie Cibrian, 29, and his wife, model Brandi Glanville, 30, are awaiting the birth of their first child in June....

Actors Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), 35, and her husband, Steven Roy (Skinwalker), 32, are expecting their first child this fall. The Canadian couple, who now live in L.A., wed in 1999.

Sued

In Manhattan reality-TV star Anna Nicole Smith, 35, recently countersued her former publicist David Granoff, 50, for $1.5 million for continuing to use her photo on his Web site after their split. In October Granoff had sued Smith for $155,000 in unpaid fees. That suit is still pending....

On Jan. 30 in San Francisco, accountant Diana Chow, 47, filed a $1 million discrimination suit against her former boss, romance novelist Danielle Steel. Chow, a Chinese-American who was fired last July, claims Steel, 55, allowed her staff to make racist remarks. Steel's lawyer called the suit "without merit."

Update
On Feb. 18 a Ventura, Calif., court sentenced in absentia Andrew Luster, 39, the Max Factor heir, to 124 years in prison for drugging and raping three women in the mid-'90s (PEOPLE, Feb. 3, 2003). Luster was under house arrest in Mussel Shoals, Calif., when he disappeared during a break in the trial.

In Court
In the first 9/11 verdict, a German court convicted Moroccan student Mounir el Motassadeq, 28, of more than 3,000 counts of accessory to murder for helping the Hamburg-based al-Qaeda cell that led the attacks. Motassadeq, an admitted friend of hijacker Mohamed Atta, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Feb. 18. He plans an appeal.

Recuperating
Baywatch alums David Hasselhoff, 50, and his wife, Pamela Bach, 39, are recovering from broken bones in an L.A. hospital after Hasselhoff lost control of their motorcycle in high winds on Feb. 20 and crashed into a curb. Hasselhoff fractured his lower back; Bach broke her left ankle and right wrist. Hasselhoff's rep said the couple should make a full recovery.

Deaths

Country singer Johnny Paycheck (born Donald Lytle), 64, a hard-drinking hellion best known for the 1977 workingman's anthem "Take This Job and Shove It," died on Feb. 18 in a Nashville nursing home of complications from emphysema and asthma. Paycheck, who had more than two dozen hit singles, later became a born-again Christian....

Howie Epstein, 47, the former bassist for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers (who also recorded with Bob Dylan), died of an apparent heroin overdose on Feb. 23 in Santa Fe. Toxicology reports are expected soon....

Michigan native John McMorran, 113, considered the oldest living person in the U.S., died of heart failure on Feb. 24 in Lakeland, Fla. He quit smoking at age 97.
