Picks and Pans Review: Cher: the Farewell Tour

NBC (Tues., April 8, 9 p.m. ET)

Surrounded by an army of dancers, acrobats and backup singers, Cher performs her hits and changes from one eye-popping outfit to another in this gleefully garish two-hour special, taped last fall at a Miami sports arena packed with ecstatic fans. The whole production is a cross between a disco inferno and three-ring circus, augmented by so many clips from her TV and movie career that you expect the diva to bestow a Lifetime Achievement Award on herself. But Cher's self-mockery provides some relief from the wretched excess.

BOTTOM LINE: Fans will eat it up
