Rocker Elvis Costello, 48, and jazz singer Diana Krall, 38, plan to wed. It will be the first marriage for Krall, the third for Costello, who split from wife Cait O'Riordan, a former bassist for the Pogues, in September....
Law & Order star Elisabeth Rohm, 30, and landscape photographer Robert Knight, 33, became engaged on May 1. Childhood sweethearts who grew up together in New York City, the couple have been dating on and off for years. It will be the first marriage for both.
Travis Barker, 27, the drummer for punk bands blink-182 and the Transplants, and model-actress Shanna Moakler (The Wedding Singer), 28, are expecting their first child together in October. The couple, who began dating last year, have no plans to wed. Moakler has a daughter, Atiana, 4, with her former fiancé, boxing champ Oscar De La Hoya....
Actors Emily Mortimer (Lovely & Amazing), 31, and husband Alessandro Nivola (Laurel Canyon), 30, are expecting their first child this fall. The couple wed in January.
Lisa Brescher, 29, a hairstylist on the Best Damn Sports Show Period, filed a sexual harassment suit against the show's cohost, former NBA player John Salley, 38, on April 30 in L.A. Brescher also sued cohost Tom Arnold, 44, for retaliation. Brescher alleges that Salley "regularly pawed" her and that when Arnold learned of the problem he said he "didn't care" and banned her from the set. A rep for Arnold said the stylist was banned from the set because of her "arguing and excessive talking." Salley denies the allegations.
On April 25 in L.A., the William Morris Agency sued actor Wesley Snipes (Blade II) for $100,000, alleging that the actor hasn't fully repaid a $500,000 cash advance the company loaned him in April 2002. According to the suit, Snipes, 40, paid back only $400,000 of the interest-free promissory note in September. A rep for Snipes was unaware of the suit.
Actor Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, 49, known for playing Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington in the 1970s TV sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter, was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery on May 4 in L.A. after allegedly pushing his girlfriend to the ground in Venice Beach. The actor's companion, whom police will not identify, was not injured. There was no comment from the rep for Hilton-Jacobs, who still works as an actor.
Songwriter George Wyle, 87, who cowrote the theme to the popular '60s TV show Gilligan's Island, died of leukemia in Tarzana, Calif., on May 2. Wyle also wrote hundreds of other songs, including the Christmas classic "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year."...
Suzy Parker, 69, arguably the most famous model of the 1950s, died after a long illness on May 3 in Montecito, Calif. Parker, a top model for Coco Chanel, also appeared in a number of movies, including the musical Funny Face and the comedy Kiss Them for Me (both from '57).
