An expectant Madonna, accompanied by brother Christopher Ciccone, a video director-interior designer, ducked out to satisfy a pregnancy food craving in Malibu. The singer's bambina, due in mid-October, is reported to be a girl who will be named Lola.

Two of Baywatch's bravest, Pamela Lee and David Chokachi, found themselves with a (loud) roar of approval during a taping of the syndicated TV series at Sea World in San Diego. The episode will air next spring.

Chest ahoy, it's Ian Ziering of Beverly Hills, 90210, suited up for Jet Jam '96, a watercraft fest in Anaheim, Calif. Ziering's event, the SEA-DOO Celebrity Challenge, also drew ex-astronaut Buzz Aldrin and ex-Olympian Bruce Jenner.

David Hyde Pierce, who plays the priggish psychiatrist Niles on Frasier, really nailed his role as a carpenter in L.A. Pierce was volunteering with Habitat for Humanity International, which builds housing for the needy.

Having a Dickens of a time avoiding the sun, Robert De Niro donned a hat and shades on the Manhattan set of an update of the 19th century novelist's Great Expectations. De Niro plays the convict Magwitch, renamed Lustig. Ethan Hawke costars as Pip, now called Finn.

After a two-hour concert performance at L.A.'s Greek Theatre, Sting (left) shared some bubbly with actors Rob Lowe (center) and Christian Slater. Slater is now making The Flood, an action thriller. Look for Lowe in an upcoming psycho-drama, Living in Peril.

London's fog didn't keep Bette Midler and her husband, Martin von Haselberg, from donning their sunnies while dashing through Heathrow airport en route to New York City. Midler's next movie comedy, The First Wives Club, opens Sept. 20.

Flipper's Elijah Wood (above), 15, served as a presenter at the Family Film Awards in Los Angeles but lost to Casper's Christina Ricci as outstanding child actor. Also on hand practicing family values as presenters were Connie Stevens and her daughters Joely Fisher (left), of ABC's Ellen, and Tricia Leigh Fisher, who played Heidi Fleiss in a recent TV movie.

A case of the giggles got the better of Janeane Garofalo (left, with singer Syd Straw) while she was hosting 7UP Listen Up!, a 30-minute rock-music radio show sponsored by the soft drink company and syndicated to college stations across the country.
