Whoopi Goldberg and Nathan Lane suited up for a gender-bender on Broadway. Whoopi replaces Nathan as the wily slave Pseudolus in the musical farce A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum on Feb. 11. "My subtext for Pseudolus has always been that I'm a black woman trapped in a white man's body. Whoopi will be brilliant, obviously," said Lane. Whoopi's next film, The Associate, opens Oct. 25.
Liam Neeson (with wife Natasha Richardson, above) got his Eire up at the L.A. premiere of Michael Collins, the biopic in which he plays the charismatic rebel who led the fight for Irish independence and was assassinated in 1922. "The movie is historically accurate," Neeson told the New York Daily News, recalling how Collins inspired Neeson's own grandparents in Northern Ireland.
