JUST SAY NOEL
Various artists

These rousing discs offer punky, alternative Christmas rave-ups guaranteed to drive parents out of the den. Ragemeister Henry Rollins opens the Choice CD with an ominous reading of " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas," accompanied by the sounds of gunfire and explosions. More amusing are the Dance Hall Crashers' "I Did It for the Toys" ("Santa kissed me under the mistletoe/ Tasted like eggnog and it was gross") and Bush's "Good King Something-orother." Noël includes Sonic Youth's "Santa Doesn't Cop Out on Dope," Elastica's "Gloria" and, from Beck, the season's best title: "The Little Drum Machine Boy." (Geffen)
