Michael Bolton
To his detractors, he's a soulless screecher. To his fans, he's a romantic balladeer nonpareil. Both camps will react predictably to Bolton's latest release, although his renditions of "Joy to the World," in which an accompanying 12-voice choir is nearly drowned out, and "Ave Maria," a truly misguided duet with Placido Domingo, lend weight to the former view.
