The Simpsons, the fearless Fox series that skewers all manner of human frailty, will take on Homer Simpson's homophobia in a sweeps show airing Feb. 16. In the episode, Homer is perturbed when he learns that an antiques dealer seeking to buy the retro furnishings chez Simpson is gay. But Bart, eager to cash in on the contents of his room, hits it off with the guy. Serial Mom director John Waters, who is gay himself, provides the voice for the dealer. He recorded his part six months ago but hasn't seen a tape of the show yet. "If I look like Richard Simmons," he says, "I'm going to the animator's home and kill him."...

The British tabs have of late been all adither about a purported romance between supermodel Naomi Campbell, 26, and flamenco dancer Joaquin Cortes, 27, a hunky Spaniard who is a major terpsichorean attraction in Europe. This month Rossellini will tape two successive Hope episodes in which she will play a cultural-history professor who lectures on woman's traditional role as child bearer and then suffers a personal fertility crisis. Rossellini's episodes will air in February....

Apparently there are still a few people who don't recognize Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith. At the Los Angeles opening of Evita last month, the couple escaped to the patio for a cigarette during the post-premiere party at the Shrine Auditorium's Expo Center. When they tried to re-enter, a security guard refused to admit them without a ticket. Griffith, aghast, told him who they were, but the guard was unmoved. "Antonio stars in this movie!" appealed Griffith. The guard stood stone-faced, refusing to budge. At that point, Griffith threw caution to the winds and rushed inside with Banderas scrambling behind her. No injuries were reported.
