He may not be passing out cigars, but Kevin Costner has begun quietly telling friends about his new baby boy. The unmarried Costner recently underwent a blood test that revealed he became a father again when Bridget Rooney, a woman he met in Aspen in late 1995, gave birth last November to a boy she named Liam. Rooney, who is in her mid-30s and owns a horse ranch near Aspen, is the niece of Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney. During her pregnancy last year, she told friends that Costner was the father. He, however, was not willing to admit it at the time. Now that he knows, Costner intends to do "the stand-up thing," according to a source, and take full responsibility, financial and otherwise, for his infant son. Costner has three other children, daughters Annie and Lily and a son, Joe, with his ex-wife Cindy. As for Rooney, she has been spending most of her time with her family in Philadelphia, but I'm told she and Costner, while no. longer romantically involved, are attempting to work out an amicable relationship....

Roseanne may have found a project to jump into as soon as her Roseanne series wraps for good in the spring. I hear she's in serious negotiations with Madison Square Garden Productions to play the Wicked Witch of the West in a stage version of The Wizard of Oz starting in May and scheduled to run for 45 days in New York City. If this comes to pass, it would mark Roseanne's stage-acting debut....

So you get married in Hollywood, and then what? Just ask Angie Everhart and Ashley Hamilton, who wed on Dec. 1 and suddenly find themselves experiencing what one source close to the couple describes as "growing pains," which is another way of saying the relationship may now be teetering on the edge. The two spent time apart last month when Everhart traveled solo to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, to act in a film called Welcome to Hollywood, a Spinal Tap-like mocumentary. Her groom remained back home in Los Angeles filming his new daytime soap, NBC's Sunset Beach....

Welcome to Hollywood, by the way, is being produced by former L.A. TV newscaster Bree Walker and her husband, NBC-HBO sports-caster Jim Lampley. In December the Lampleys opened Lakota, a Park City eatery that was packed all during Sundance. During my own two days at the festival, I saw eight films, the best being Ulee's Gold, a drama starring Peter Fonda as a Florida beekeeper desperately trying to keep his family together. Fonda's understated, emotionally charged performance is easily the finest of his career....

Walken this way when you work with Christopher Walken. So says Scream's Skeet Ulrich, who stars with Walken, Bridget Fonda, Tom Arnold and Lolita Davidovich in Touch, a comedy opening Feb. 14. Ulrich says that during shooting, Walken always sucked on a lime before scenes as a way of reducing the saliva in his mouth. "Soon everyone else started doing it too," adds Ulrich....

Wondering about that picture in the Feb. 4 issue of The Star showing Pamela Anderson Lee on a "date watch" with someone the tabloid calls a Hollywood Mystery Man? I've solved the mystery. He is PEOPLE'S Todd Gold, deputy chief of our L.A. bureau, who is currently cowriting Lee's autobiography. Gold's wife, Beth, not shown in the photo, was nevertheless standing nearby.
