Blood, gore and nasty, sadistic folk fill the screen in a sly slasher pic about a sicko family of killers in writer-director Rob Zombie's follow-up to his earlier House of 1000 Corpses. It's self-indulgent and rococo, but Zombie is inarguably born to the genre. (R)

Last Days


Michael Pitt stumbles and mumbles his way through a numbing look at the final days of a Kurt Cobain-like rocker in a drama from writer-director Gus Van Sant. Slow and definitely lacking in teen—or any kind of—spirit. (R)

The Edukators

Disaffected young Germans break into affluent homes, rearrange the furniture and leave notes warning the homeowners that their days of plenty are numbered. Starts off as an intriguing political drama but devolves into a ho-hum romantic triangle. (R)

Wedding Crashers

Bawdy and rude, but also sweet and funny, this comedy about pals (Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson) who crash weddings is a winner, (R)
