Paris Hilton and Paris Latsis have turned their engagement party into a two-month world tour. The couple plan to get on a private plane July 22 and fly from L.A. to the South of France with a group of friends. "She's in love and wants to continue celebrating," a pal says of Hilton, who sees her trip as an extended prewedding spree. The couple then plan to yacht to Monaco, Sardinia and Saint-Tropez, sources say, where they'll meet up with Sean "P. Diddy" Combs before heading back to Greece to meet more of Latsis's family. Says Latsis's father, Gregoris Kasidokostas, on recently meeting Hilton: "Paris looked as if she's enjoying herself with [my son]." The nonstop reveling will end with an August soiree at Hilton's parents' house in the Hamptons.
When Peter Gallagher serenaded his TV wife to make up for forgetting their anniversary on The O.C. last season, his smooth delivery prompted the wife of a Sony record exec to tell her husband, "There's your next star." Soon after, Sony signed Gallagher, 49, and in June he hit a Memphis studio with Joss Stone's backing band to record his debut CD, tentatively titled Seven Days in Memphis. "It's unbelievable—it's like getting pregnant when you're 85," he says. His baby, a mix of soul classics and Lucinda William's and Randy Newman covers, is due this fall.
JILL & JERRY: CROSSED OFF
On NBC's Crossing Jordan Jill Hennessy and Jerry O'Connell play a coroner and a detective, respectively, who are potential paramours. But in real life, we hear there's such friction between the two that the network has hired two new costars—Leslie Bibb and Charles Mesure—to play fresh love interests. A source on the show says Hennessy and O'Connell "just don't click and really started to dislike one another," and thinks the new actors "will really help the air on the set. Now [Hennessy and O'Connell] can stay out of each other's hair." O'Connell denies a problem ("We have a great working relationship," he says), as does Hennessy, who says, "I've waited for three seasons to have a love scene with Jerry and will wait four if necessary." An NBC rep says, "They adore working together. The new casting is completely storyline driven."
MELISSA ROCKS THE BOAT
Folks on the cruise ship Norwegian Dawn got a surprise July 16 when Melissa Etheridge performed an impromptu 15-minute concert. Etheridge, diagnosed with breast cancer last fall, completed radiation therapy in March. "She seemed happy and healthy," says Kelli Carpenter, Rosie O'Donnell's partner and co-organizer of the R Family Vacations Cruise for gay families, which set sail to Nova Scotia on July 10 and also featured performer Cyndi Lauper. Traveling with partner Tammy Lynn Michaels, daughter Bailey Jean, 8, and son Beckett, 6, Etheridge hid behind a screen during the cruise's finale celebration. "Then the screen went up and the audience went crazy," Carpenter says. Etheridge closed with Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart." Says Rosier "It was a perfect family fit."
