Picks and Pans Review: Sounds Off

Lynda Carter: She was the warrior princess on TV's Wonder Woman (1976-79). Now Lynda Carter, 54 and a married mother of two, returns for comic spins in The Dukes of Hazzard and Sky High.

ON DUKES It was a total blast. As soon as [onscreen love interest] Willie Nelson's bus came rolling in, it was fantastic. He's the sweetest, cutest man, and I've been a huge fan for years.


A producer mentioned the role [of principal] to me about two years ago. They let me go for it with stiletto heels—not your typical principal's outfit. I'm thrilled, as most actresses my age, to do what I do. Now that I'm working again, if you build it, the roles will come.

ON AVOIDING SUPERHERO ATTIRE I was grateful I didn't have to wear a costume for Sky High. I gave Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston lots of grief about theirs. "Oh, is it hot in there? I'm so comfortable in this little suit of mine." But I said to Kelly, "At least you get to wear white tights. I had to have pancake makeup on my legs."

ON SEEING HER WONDER WOMAN OUTFIT TODAY I think, "Oh my God, [I] had a great body." I'll never fit into that suit again. The last time I took it out was for my 14-year-old daughter's show-and-tell at kindergarten. I don't think the waist ever really goes back after you have two kids.
