A month after sashaying to victory in Dancing with the Stars, General Hospital star Kelly Monaco, 29, relives the grueling ballroom blitz and its often dizzying aftermath.

How did Dancing change your life?
I carry myself in a different way. My shoulders are held back a little bit more. I won't say I'm a graceful woman, because I'm a klutz, but I've noticed small changes.

You're telling us that a klutz won Dancing with the Stars?
During the whole journey of Dancing, I took one beating after another. I slammed my finger in a door and my entire nail fell off. I spilled boiling tea down my leg—I had burns from my kneecap to my hip. I have a scar there now.

Were you surprised by the talk of you not deserving to win the competition?
What I did not expect was the accusation that ABC rigged it for an ABC employee to win. That was insulting. I worked my butt off.

Will you do a rematch with runner-up John O'Hurley?
It's being considered. I don't know if I can commit that much time [to training]. If we do a dance-off, hopefully John and I will get to dance together once.

How has Dancing helped your career prospects?
It gave me the recognition I didn't really know I needed. I've been offered everything from workout videos to feature films.

Any truth to rumors you'll be getting a role on Desperate Housewives?
That's something I can't comment about. If it works out, it works out. I'm honored that [creator] Marc Cherry is a fan.
