One of the suspects in Natalee Holloway's May 30 disappearance in Aruba now publicly admits lying to police in his initial statement. But according to Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty, what Joran van der Sloot, 18, called the truth in a recent interview with A Current Affair—that he only kissed the 18-year-old Holloway before leaving her alone on the beach—is at odds with what he told police during his three-month detention. Twitty, now home in Alabama, plans to return to Aruba soon to pursue the case.

J0RAN VAN DER SLOOT SAYS: ...I kissed with her, but neither did Deepak or Satish ever had sex with her and no one ever said otherwise...I just think it is sad how Natalee's mom comes forward and starts saying things against us that don't make sense and are not true. ...The worst thing that I did was leaving her on the beach.—A Current Affair (9/26)

BETH TWITTY RESPONDS: I saw a sociopath. I saw somebody who is using every resource he could to control himself and keep his composure on-camera. I could see him building toward the end of his interview. He looked like to me he was dying to just shout it out and brag what he'd done.

Taylor Behl, 17, was just two weeks into her freshman year at Virginia Commonwealth University when she disappeared on Sept. 5, leaving her purse and driver's license in her dorm room. On Sept. 17 Richmond police found her car nearly two miles away. Police searched the home of amateur photographer Benjamin Fawley, 38—who had met Taylor last spring through a friend—after he told police he had been abducted. They arrested him Sept. 23 on 16 counts of possessing child pornography. Though none of the photos found were of Behl, police say they continue to question Fawley. Says prosecutor Mike Jagels: "He admitted having sex with her several times and is one of the last people to see her before she went missing."
