Given the caliber of talent on this Luther lovefest—a who's who of R&B including Mary J. Blige, Usher, Aretha Franklin and Alicia Keys—the results are less than amazing. Beyoncé and Stevie Wonder make a surprisingly tepid twosome on the title song, while Donna Summer sucks all of the soul out of "Power of Love." Fantasia delivers one of the few truly inspired moments of the tribute, which was begun before Vandross's death last July, when she turns "'Til My Baby Comes Home" into a gospel rouser that Luther is probably clapping along to somewhere.
