Spears's prerogative? A fast car, skimpy outfit and role for her guy Kevin
Plans for her real wedding are in the works, but Britney Spears is ready to give everyone a sneak peek at what Britney the bride may look like. In the upcoming video for her new single, a cover of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative," the singer is seen speeding through the Hollywood Hills in a white Porsche; crashing into a posh estate's swimming pool; cutting off her wet clothes with a knife; disrupting a wild party; and meeting up with the man of her dreams—played by real-life fiancé Kevin Federline. Then, reports Access Hollywood, Spears dons a wedding dress and walks down the aisle with Federline.
The clip, which was shot last week, will premiere mid-September. Her real wedding date is still unannounced—which isn't to say Spears has been idle. She and Federline recently took "a wonderful, relaxing trip [to] Lake Tahoe—fishing, sleeping late, [eating] good food," writes Spears's mother, Lynne, on the pop star's Web site. On the domestic front, the singer spent part of last weekend with Federline and his 2-year-old daughter Kori. They drove together to the Orange County, Calif., home of Kori's mother, Shar Jackson, with whom Federline also has a 5-week-old son, Kaleb. (Spears, who accompanied Federline, did not leave the car, and it wasn't clear if she and Jackson spoke.) Next up? A weekend in Massachusetts at the Spears Foundation Camp for the Performing Arts, her annual effort to help teenagers hone their artistic talents.
Hugh Grant & Jemima Khan
During a recent visit to the South of France, Hugh Grant and Jemima Khan left little doubt as to the nature of their friendship. After months of trying to hide from photographers and declining to discuss their relationship, Grant, 43, and Khan, 30, the daughter of the late French-British billionaire entrepreneur Sir James Goldsmith, frolicked and kissed on the shore. Khan's divorce from Pakistani cricket champ-turned-politician Imran Khan, 51, was announced in June. Grant's last serious relationship, with Elizabeth Hurley, ended in 2000.
Jerry O'Connell & Rebecca Romijn
Rebecca Romijn seems to be getting over the breakup of her marriage with the help of Crossing Jordan's Jerry O'Connell. Gossip columnists spotted the two together in Los Angeles, taking in an Al Green concert and checking out a local deli. Just one day after her husband of 5½ years, John Stamos, 41, filed for divorce on Aug. 19, Romijn, 31, and O'Connell, 30, flew to New York City, huddling in first class. The next day they were spotted at a Manhattan eatery. O'Connell recently split with E! News Live correspondent Giuliana DePandi, 30. Reps for Romijn and O'Connell had no comment.
THE AMAZING RACE'S
BREAKOUT REALITY STAR
Whether it was helping carry a 55-lb. side of beef for half a mile or eating the equivalent of two dozen eggs, no task fazed The Amazing Race's 4-ft.-tall Charla Faddoul. Her stature immediately set her apart from the other contestants on the reality show, but it was her pluck that made her a favorite with the viewers, "I just wanted people to understand that there are different kinds of people out there," says Faddoul, 28. "Just give them a chance." Although she and her cousin Mirna Hindoyan were eliminated from the race in the Aug. 17 episode, Faddoul says the support from her fans continues. "A lot of parts with disabled children have come up to and said, 'You gave me so much hope,'" she says. "It's just heartwarming."
JUDGE TO DIDDY: PAY UP
For the last two years, Sean "P Diddy" Combs has been paying fashion stylist Misa Hylton-Brim $5,512 a month in child support for their 10-year-old son Justin. Mean-while Combs has been sending model Kim Porter $35,000 a month in child support for their son Christian, 6. (Combs has never married either woman.) The discrepancy, Hylton-Brim says, isn't fair. On Aug. 4 a Westchester County, N.Y., family court judge agreed and ordered Combs to up the monthly payments to Hylton-Brim to $35,000. (He must also continue paying $40,000 a year in education and camp costs for Justin.) Combs is appealing the verdict. The decision "is patently unreasonable," says his lawyer Peter J. Galasso. In court papers, Hylton-Brim said Combs told her he currently earns $50 million a year. Combs, 34, a music and fashion mogul, did not contest that figure, but tax documents entered as evidence showed he earned $16 million in 2002. Hylton-Brim, 30, said she earned about $180,000 in 2003 as a fashion consultant to Serena Williams and Lil' Kim, among others. Says her lawyer Brett Kimmel: "She is extremely satisfied with the result."
To help raise funds for charities supporting literacy, Pitney Bowes asked more than 30 stars, including Mike Myers, Lindsay Lohan, Adam Sandler and Brittany Murphy, to create personalized artwork on the company's envelopes, which will be auctioned off on eBay from Sept. 22 through Sept. 30.
Comedian George Lopez hosts the Latin Grammy Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sept. 1, even though, he tells Scoop, you wouldn't want to hear him warble a tune. Lopez, 43, returns for a fourth season on ABC's George Lopez this fall.
What makes the Latin Grammys better than the regular Grammys?
This is the Grammys with curves! The energy is higher. The music is global music.
Any musical talents on your part?
I have tried to play the guitar since I was 15, and now, after 28 years, I am starting to think I have no talent. No musical ability. I can't even sing.
Not even karaoke?
No. I tried singing "Born to Be Wild" at a lounge in Las Vegas once, and that didn't work. Cleared the place right out.
What's in your CD collection? Latin songs?
As a matter of fact, I don't have any Latin music in my CD collection. I am an old-school guy. On my iPod I have the Black Eyed Peas because I have a little infatuation with Fergie [singer Stacy Ferguson]. And I've got a lot of Diana Ross and Dionne Warwick and the Temptations. Some Chicago. A lot of Santana.
What is the best music for romance?
Earth, Wind & Fire. That has always been successful for me.
How are you going to prepare for the show?
I walk around the house just pronouncing the [nominees'] names so I'll get them right. With them it is not really about the music, it's "Did the dude say my name right?" They get so offended if you don't roll your tongue the right way.
What sort of tone will you set as host?
It is an election year, so it will be a little bit political. It will be funny. A little bit of my stand-up act. And I think that if I don't offend I haven't done my job right.
How's the sitcom going?
The show is moving to Tuesday night at 8:30, a much better time slot.
What's your idea of livin' la vida loca?
It involves tequila—frozen Patron Silver. And golf.
