Monica Bellucci
The 35-year-old Italian stunner—best known as Mary Magdalene in The Passion of the Christ (now on DVD)—stars in the Italian indie Remember Me, My Love and is expecting her first child this month.
ON THE FAME GAME Remember Me is about a lot of things: family; reality TV, which is a big deal in Italy; the desire for fame. For me [fame] is nothing special. I don't live my life to be seen in the pages of magazines. I'm just a normal person who does a special thing. The rest bores me.
ON THE PASSION CONTROVERSY I was so surprised! It was just a small movie that couldn't find distribution. But the life of Jesus is so violent that the film couldn't be any different.
ON THE PLAYING MOM My husband [French actor-director Vincent Cassel] recently directed me and that was: good, but it's okay if we don't do it again for a while. I have refused several movies because of this pregnancy. This is the most important moment of my life. You can make movies all of your life, but you can't make babies all your life.
