O.C. Wedding Bells?
Onscreen and off, The O.C. castmates Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson are an item. So when Internet rumors flew that the couple—who play nerdy Seth and ditsy Summer on the FOX hit—were engaged, fans all but picked out the dress. Alas, the pair, who've been dating since the first season, say the only celebration on their calender is a Halloween shindig with O.C. creator Josh Schwartz. "I don't know what I'm going to be yet," says Bilson, 23, who has been rummaging for costumes at Target. But Brody, 24, has a plan. "I bought a Batman costume for $40," he says. "But I kind of look more like a stripper." He hasn't ruled out an outfit upgrade. "I might try to land a really good one so everybody's like, 'I can't believe you paid that much for Val Kilmer's suit.'"
MAKING MUSIC TOGETHER
Fresh from her breakup with TV tycoon Tom Werner, Katie Couric is taking five with jazz trumpet player Chris Botti, 42, chosen as one of PEOPLE'S 50 Most Beautiful last May. "They met at a party," says a pal. "She thinks he's smart and funny and really sexy." Still Couric, 47, is in no hurry to get serious. "Katie is having a great time," says another friend. "He's not her boyfriend. She's just dating him."
NIGHT OF BLISS
His costars may have found love in the workplace, but The O.C.'s Benjamin McKenzie seems to prefer romantic channel surfing. On Oct. 25, McKenzie, 26, and Emily Van-Camp, 18, of the WB family drama Everwood, partied together at the West Hollywood club Bliss and were later seen kissing at a restaurant. Paparazzi trailed the pair back to McKenzie's apartment, but their reps insist it's all strictly platonic. "They're friends," says his publicist.
MATCH GAME
Which tennis hunk is Paris Hilton courting? On Oct. 24 the heiress declared her love for Aussie ace Mark Philippoussis, telling journalists, "I'm head over heels," and reportedly showing off a shirtless pic of the 28-year-old athlete on her cell phone. Philippoussis, who had been dating Australian singer Delta Goodrem, kept mum, and Hilton's rep now says the pair are "just friends." Maybe because that same weekend Hilton was also spotted smooching Mandy Moore's ex Andy Roddick in LasVegas. Not so, says his spokesman: "They are not dating. I don't think they've ever met."
