Ashanti Ashanti, 24, hopes to bloom on the charts again with her third studio disc, Concrete Rose. She also appears in the film Coach Carter, opening Jan. 14.

ON THE FIRST CONCERT SHE SAW I think it was Michael Jackson on his Bad tour. I had to be 9 years old or something. I just remember it was so crowded, I had my little [Michael] T-shirt on, and there was all this energy in the room.

ON THE FIRST ALBUM SHE EVER BOUGHT Attitude by Troop. I love the song "All I Do Is Think of You."

ON HER ALL TIME FAVOUIRITE SONG

I don't think you can ask an artist a question like that—there are so many great songs. But I think I'll go with "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" by Michael Jackson.

ON HER FAVORITE SINGER They all have incredible voices, so I can't pick just one: [gospel singers] Kim Burrell and Yolanda Adams, and of course Aretha Franklin.

ON THE SONG SHE WISHES SHE HAD RECORDED There was a big beef between me and Irv [Gotti, CEO of the Inc. record company] because I wanted "I'm Real" and they gave it to J.Lo. I sang it first; I referenced the track for her. And they kept my vocals on the hook when she recorded it.
