Picks and Pans Review: Catching Up With...Andrew Firestone

It's been more than a year since Bachelor sweethearts Andrew Firestone and Jen Schefft called it quits. She moved on and took an unsuccessful run at the roses herself as The Bachelorette. Firestone, 29, is hoping for a more pragmatic moniker: the Restaurateur. We caught up with him as he put the final touches on his new San Diego tapas eatery The Confidential.

WHY A RESTAURANT? It's a collaborative effort with a couple of buddies of mine from San Diego. We wanted to create a place you can go to eat and hang out and spend an entire evening, not just stuff your face and leave.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF HOW THINGS WENT FOR JEN ON THE BACHELORETTE? I [told her] "If you ever need or want to talk, I will be there," but I think she's sort of figuring all this stuff out on her own. I am not totally surprised. As always, I just hope that she finds what she's looking for.

AND WHAT ABOUT YOUR SOCIAL LIFE? It's sort of going along. I've delved a little bit into dating. But there are no announcements coming anytime soon. My roommate Kevin has a serious girlfriend now. Her name is Jen too, which is kind of funny. I think that was a prerequisite.
