Liz Taylor has one. So do Jennifer Lopez and Antonio Banderas. But chances are no celeb has been as candid about their signature perfume as shark-attack survivor Bethany Hamilton: "It wasn't my idea," Hamilton, 15, says of her new fragrances—Stoked for girls and Wired for boys. "The [cosmetic] company approached me. They just sent me the scents to pick out."
Since losing her arm to a shark off the Hawaiian island of Kauai in October 2003, Hamilton has been riding a media wave: TV interviews, awards shows, a book. There's even a movie in the works. But while she enjoys the fame, she doesn't swallow her own publicity. "The big tree of my life," she says, "is made up of my surfing and faith." Homeschooled and a committed Christian, she'd rather be surfing near her family's Kauai home or riding her horse Coco than conducting interviews. The one thing she hasn't done in the past 18 months is go back into the water at Tunnels Beach, where she was attacked. "I might someday," she says. "But there are enough beaches in Kauai. It's not like I have to do it now."
