Soft, sexy lace is a top choice for celebs looking to bring romantic, old-world charm to their modern-day duds
Nicole Richie, in Y & Kei, leaving an L.A. club.
Jessica Alba, in Alexander McQueen, at an L.A. awards show.
Joy Bryant, in Anna Sui, at a fashion event in L.A.
Hilary Duff, in D&G, at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards in L.A.
Behind the Seams
lightened up for L.A.'s What a Pair! benefit in a lace wrap dress by Nina Ricci and familiar blonde hair: "I was ready to get back to myself!"
GUESS APPEARANCE: The sassy swingers dangling from Zoe Saldana's ears in the movie Guess Who have viewers trying to guess who designed them. The wondering is over: They're from Renee Garvey. The film's costumer ordered three pairs of the sterling silver and tourmaline earrings that Saldana ended up wearing in the taxi scene with Ashton Kutcher....
Renee Garvey earrings, $145; Jennifer Kaufman, 310-854-1058.
FRIENDS-LY FACE: What else do Courteney Cox Arquette and Jennifer Aniston have in common? Both use Kinerase antiaging skin-care products. Once available only in doctors' offices, Kinerase was just introduced to Sephora by its very first spokesperson, Cox (shown here in an early look at the ad campaign). Now Aniston won't have to call her derm for her beauty supplies—she can get it with a little help from her Friend....

LAUDER'S LATEST: The newest Estée Lauder line is a Ford model T.—Tom, that is. The beauty giant will collaborate with him on two brands. Tom Ford for Estée Lauder hits stores this holiday season and will "reacquaint a new generation with amazing Lauder things I remember from the '60s and 70s," says the designer. Fall 2006 will bring his cosmetics and scents. "There's a sensuality to fragrance," says the designer, who sometimes wears Youth Dew, Lauder's original women's perfume. "The idea of women's and men's fragrances is so funny. Some things just smell great."...
PAINTED DESERT: The tans Matthew McConaughey and Penélope Cruz sport in Sahara didn't come from months in the desert sun—it was more like four minutes in the light mist of California Tan's Custom Bronzing Sunless Spray Treatment. The film's makeup artist requested an on-set machine to keep the stars tawny.
Trend of the Week
When stars shoulder the burden of big bags, they do it with panache. The latest must-have megatote is a slouchy, hippie-ish hobo bag in fun colors like Debra Messing's or studded with decorative details like Mena Suvari's.
Who'da funk it? Instead of a vocal tribute, Beyoncé has (unwittingly?) paid hair homage to '80s icons Donna Summer and Rick James. While there's certainly nothing wrong with long and luscious curly locks, it's the short, bouncy bangs that evoke the mother of MacArthur Park and the late, great Mr. James. It's just a disco do—or don't?
LOOK OF THE WEEK
Celebrities are getting swept away with their hair, brushing long bangs aside so that they graze one eye. The edgy, straight-but-messy look draws attention to eyes and cheekbones. "It's one of my favorite styles on her right now," says Ken Paves of client Jessica Simpson. "That kind of sexy thing."
Catherine Zeta-Jones, on holiday in the Caribbean, and Paris Hilton, in Los Angeles, are perfectly in step in their matching Diane von Furstenberg dresses and strappy sandals.
