Actor Bob Denver, 70, who played Gilligan on the 1960s sitcom Gilligan's Island, underwent quadruple heart-bypass surgery in early May. "The operation was a complete success, he's just healing now," said a rep.
Ike Boutwell, 72, the owner of two movie theaters in Hardin County, Ky., has refused to show Jane Fonda's new comedy Monster-in-Law in his cinemas, citing the actress's anti-Vietnam War activism during the '70s. Boutwell, who trained pilots during the war, posted a sign on his marquee that reads, "No Jane Fonda movie in this theater." "I can't reward her for her actions," says Boutwell. A rep for Fonda had no comment.
Actor Cody Kasch, 17, who plays troubled teen Zach Young on Desperate Housewives, was arrested May 17 in Manhattan after police officers allegedly caught him outside a bar smoking what they claim was marijuana. Kasch was given a ticket to appear before a judge. His manager could not be reached for comment.
On May 20 in Melbourne, Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue underwent surgery to remove a cancerous lump from her breast. Minogue, 37, was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in mid-May (PEOPLE, May 30, 2005). "Kylie is currently resting, and her spirits are high," said her surgeon.
Voice-over talent Thurl Ravens croft. 91, who gave life to Tony the Tiger's familiar growl, "They're grrreat!" in Kellogg's Frosted Flakes commercials, died May 22 of prostate cancer in Orange Co., Calif. Ravenscroft's voice was also featured in the 1966 animated classic Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Comedian Kevin James (The King of Queens), 40, and his wife, Steffiana De La Cruz, 30, a model, are expecting their first child this fall. They tied the knot last June. "We have a little baby on the way and we're very excited," James told PEOPLE.... Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, 29, and his wife, actress Shanna Moakler, 30, will welcome their second child in December. "Hopefully it will be Christmas Eve. I'm hoping for a girl," says Barker. The couple, who star in the MTV reality show Meet the Barkers, have a 1-year-old son, Landon. Moakler also has a 6-year-old daughter, Atiana, with her ex-fiancé Oscar De La Hoya.
