HOLLYWOOD'S FINEST TURNED UP AT THE SHRINE AUDITORIUM, WHERE THE MOOD WAS LIGHT, THE FASHION WAS HOT, AND THE PARTIES WERE POPPING

Every inch the well-groomed couple, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey reveal their styling secrets. "We got ready together tonight," says Simpson, who presented the award for best musical performance in a movie. Jokes Lachey: "I did her hair. It took longer than usual, but I feel really good with how it came out."

FADE TO BLACK
Nicole Richie, host of the red-carpet preshow, wears a whimsical Missoni dress (top left), while Lindsay Lohan (above, in a multitiered Chanel frock) exults after winning best female performance for Mean Girls. Later, the close pals switch to basic black for the afterparties.

Tom Cruise uses his leverage with 11-year-old War of the Worlds costar Dakota Fanning. The pair handed top movie honors to the cult comedy hit Napoleon Dynamite.

On the red carpet, a giggly Sandra Bullock, who presented the best male performance award, has to hand it to comedian Andy Dick and his wacky antics.

Nicole Kidman presents the breakthrough female award to Mean Girls' Rachel McAdams.

UTA PARTY
Wilmer Valderrama, Paul Walker, Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Robbins and Leelee Sobieski all check out the United Talent Agency's soiree, held poolside at the Chateau Marmont hotel after the show. Inexplicably, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, a 6'4" former pro wrestler, arrives with two bodyguards in tow.

LINDSAY'S BASH
Lindsay Lohan hosts a shindig at the Standard hotel, which draws Chris Rock, who hangs solo in the VIP section, and Paris Squared (Hilton and Latsis), who kiss and cuddle. Daryl Hannah chats outside with Quentin Tarantino, while Lukas Haas and Kirsten Dunst chill nearby.

JIMMY FALLON'S FETE
Everyone's last stop? Fallon's party at the Argyle Hotel. There, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey share a couch with Eva Mendes, who gabs and giggles with Simpson past 4:30 a.m. Jessica's sister Ashlee also joins the group. Lohan and her crew turn up around 3:30 a.m. (For more on Lohan and Simpson, see Scoop, p. 24.) Kirsten Dunst stops by, as does Dunst's ex Jake Gyllenhaal.

THE TONY AWARDS

NEW YORK CITY, JUNE 5
ELEGANT AND STATELY WAS THE THEME AS BROADWAY'S BIGGEST STARS GATHERED AT RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL TO HONOR THEIR OWN

At the afterparty held at the Marriott Marquis, Joan Allen (right, in Alberta Ferretti) chats with fellow presenter Angela Bassett before getting back to her date for the night: her 11-year-old daughter Sadie.

Christina Applegate performs a scorching medley of songs from her revue Sweet Charity.

In a demure Narciso Rodriguez gown, Claire Danes seems bowled over by the front-row view she shares with her beau Billy Crudup, who was nominated for his role in the play The Pillowman.

Donning a sherbet-colored Elie Saab dress, Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross catches nominee Laura Linney's eye on the red carpet. Cross admitted, "I definitely want to go back to the theater. But not this summer—I'll be resting."

Despite his protests that "Wolverine does not do high kicks," Tony host and X-Men star Hugh Jackman sang and danced his way through his third time as emcee.

HOLLYWOOD, JUNE 4
Courteney Cox Arquette sneaks a peek while at the premiere of The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, costarring her husband, David Arquette.

NEW YORK CITY, JUNE 6

Mommy-to-be Britney Spears stomachs the summer heat by walking to a local ice cream stand for a vanilla shake. The pop singer is due to give birth to her first child this fall.

At Shea Stadium, Julia Stiles comes out swinging and smiling at a charity batting practice session with the Mets. The event raised $175,000 for Lou Gehrig's disease research.

LONDON, JUNE 2
After touring Europe for almost two months, Kelly Rowland (left), Michelle Williams and Beyoncé of Destiny's Child kick back at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for some pampering.
