WHEN HE'S NOT AT HOME: A lawyer turned real-estate mogul, he oversees the renovations and operations of the six hotels he owns with his brothers and other partners.
A bicoastal art buff, Pomeranc splits his time between a downtown Manhattan loft and Marilyn Monroe's former digs at the Roosevelt, which he's rehabbing into a Hollywood hot spot.
The M.M. connection: In the '50s, Monroe lived in the 950-sq.-ft. one-bedroom suite as a struggling actress for two years and again briefly with husband Joe DiMaggio. "There's a sense of both tragedy and drama about this room," Pomeranc says. "You can feel her beauty and vulnerability as well as her recklessness."
Amenities include: A flat-screen TV, vintage furniture and a stainless steel kitchen, but hey, there's always room service.
Beverly Hills mansion
WHEN HE'S NOT AT HOME: The onetime New Mexico state senator (1994-2000) helps run his family's businesses, which include the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and basketball's Sacramento Kings.
Boy toys: Maloof's 12-room Mediterranean-style home boasts a tanning booth, cardio and weight rooms, wine closet, stocked humidor, massage room with automatic aromatherapy, and a home theater. There's also a guest house, which includes poker and pool tables as well as a giant flat-screen TV, one of 12 he owns. Plus lots of land, a pool and a great view of Los Angeles beyond a manicured hedge.
A date at his place: "I hired this great Louisiana chef, Britney Spears
's father, Jamie. His food is so good I have to work out four times a week now. I'd have him cook some fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I'd get a masseuse, we'd play some pool. Everything's here. I don't really like going out."
