Kill Bill director Quentin Tarantino (with star Thurman) likened his premiere to "climbing Mount Everest, and there is a big old party at the end."
At Bill's L.A. screening, Liu said she tried to make her assassin character "fun and likable." Ditto her fashion statement, an Oscar de la Renta with a pink clutch.
A silver stunner on the red carpet in a Louisa Veccaria, Thurman changed out of it for the Bill party. "I don't last very long in metal dresses," she explained.

Fox chose an Elie Saab dress that reflected her Kill Bill role. "I play an assassin," she said, "so I wanted to go with the whole female-assassin thing—dark black."
"It was touch-and-go on the top," said Intolerable Cruelty's Zeta-Jones of her ensemble. "It was an old piece—could it fit? And I was like, 'Yes, I'll do that tonight.'"
Pierce Brosnan (with wife Keely) found a double-o word to describe Kill Bill: "Outrageous."
Chris Rock (with, left, Red Hot Chili Pepper Anthony Kiedis and producer Guy Oseary) said Kill Bill was "much better than one of mine."
Forgoing a date, George Clooney brought parents Nina and Nick to his Intolerable Cruelty premiere.
"Compared to the stress of making the movie, this is a cakewalk," said Thurman (with Adam Sandler) of publicly weathering her split from Ethan Hawke.
With her red John Galliano for Christian Dior dress (below), "I just wanted to be like animation cartoon girl," said Bill's Daryl Hannah, who changed for the Hollywood Athletic Club bash (left, with Tarantino) "to shock everybody."
Dean Cain declared his Out of Time costars Sanaa Lathan (left) and Eva Mendes "gorgeous, even after they shot for 15 hours."
Queen Latifah, in town filming Taxi, dropped by the Out of Time bash to support her Brown Sugar costar Lathan.
LL Cool J chilled out with his wife, Simone, before posing for photos with fans.
"It was all I had clean," said Denzel Washington (with wife Pauletta) of his casual attire.
