Purple Majesty
A favored hue of kings and queens, purple is adorning Hollywood royalty too—in sophisticated, premiere-worthy dresses (Kelly Rowland, Charlize Theron) as well as chic little separates (Julia Stiles). "The shade we're seeing now is deep, almost ecclesiastical," says stylist Sharon Pendana. "It's aubergine, not Barney-the-dinosaur purple." That richness is what appealed to Rowland: "I was going to a horror film premiere so I wanted to wear something dark, and [this color] was very sexy." Purple as the new black? How plummy.

WINNER'S CIRCLE
At the New York City Dogville premiere on Oct. 4, Chloë Sevigny shone in a sequined Lanvin sheath. Displaying décolletage but little jewelry, she punctuated the look with scarlet lips and Lanvin stilettos. And her covered legs showed why tights are hot again. Down, boys!
Clean-Hair Act
In Hollywood the hair-obsessed are hooked on all-natural shampoos whipped up by celebrity stylist Chaz Dean. Beauties including Reese Witherspoon, Brooke Shields and Halle Berry are pampering their locks with Wen's gentle Cleansing Conditioner: It's full of soothers including menthol and almond oil—but minus the usual detergents. "I can't imagine having to go without it," says Christina Applegate. Users who Natural buy it by the gallon claim that it helps color last longer and makes limp locks look thicker. Hmm...but does it cure the common cold?...
Natural wonder: Wen's conditioner.

In cozy cashmere, the bold hoodies ($280) are emblazoned with designs on the back and sleeves; unlike the permanent versions, they let you choose a new tattoo when you're ready to switch.
