WHEEL APPEAL
The hottest car in Hollywood these days isn't a Porsche, Mercedes or Jaguar. It's a Toyota. The redesigned 2004 Prius has just hit the market, and celebs like Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Ed Norton and Larry David are snapping them up. The hybrid gas-and-electric vehicle, which gets up to 60 miles per gallon and has a base price of around $21,000, appeals to environmentally conscious celebs—or those who want to appear so. Not that luxury gas guzzlers have gone out of style. The day after she and Pitt drove to the Avalon club in Hollywood in their new hybrid car, Jennifer Aniston was back at the wheel of her big honking Range Rover.

CROWE FLIES
Dating Demi Moore may have upped Ashton Kutcher's public profile, but it hasn't done much for his movie career. The That '70s Show star has just dropped his most important project yet: the lead opposite Kirsten Dunst in director Cameron Crowe's Elizabethtown. Although the buzz around Hollywood is that the 25-year-old doesn't have the acting chops to handle the role, Kutcher's rep says the actor left because of a scheduling conflict after Crowe pushed the production from January to the spring.

SOME LIKE IT (NOT TOO) HOT
Will Smith kissed two different women recently—under the watchful eye and direction of his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The actor was taping his first guest-starring appearance on All of Us, the UPN show that he and Jada executive produce, and had to kiss costars LisaRaye McCoy and Elise Neal. Giving him breath mints between takes, Jada kept urging him to "make it hotter." So on the last take with Neal, Smith picked her up and headed to the kitchen table, where they started getting a little too frisky. Jada jumped up from her director's chair and yelled, "Cut!"

SKIRTING HOOPS
Jack Nicholson is loath to miss watching his beloved Lakers play, much less at their season opener. But this year he skipped the game to attend—of all things—a fashion show The Oscar winner forfeited his usual seat at Staples Center on Oct. 28 to be front and center cheering on his designer daughter Jennifer Nicholson, who showed her spring/summer collection at Smashbox Studios in L.A. When he arrived, Nicholson was told he could watch the game in an office until the show began, but the actor declined. Said Jack, who preferred hanging out backstage with Jennifer and her son Sean—and chatting up the leggy models: "It's fine. I've TiVo'd it."
